Pre Done Competition Rules

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

I.H.S with a history of 55 Years and as the innovator of Hairdressing Competitions in Australia has moved with the times, and now created a new two year Awards cycle finalising with our National Awards every second year.

The Next I.H.S National Awards will be held in 2013

Therefore any Stylist that wins a National or State Award, Junior, Senior, Salon, or Collage of the year. Will now hold that National or State Award for Two years.

This year is named our Pre-Done Competitions Year. There will be no National Awards and the 2012 State Competitions will be in a Pre-Done Format and testing of new competitions

Then in 2013 competitions will revert back to our Awards Year, on the floor competitions leading up to our 2013 I.H.S National Awards.

The following year 2014 will be State Competitions and will be in a Pre- Done and Testing format and so on.

2012 Rules:

Conditions of entry

1. All sections will be judged as a total look (top to toe). Your model must be able to stand and sit for judging.
2. Judges would like to see the latest in hair & fashion. Your inspiration should come from high fashion magazines, Latest movie and music video fashion
3. All pre-done sections can be entered as a salon team or individual.
4. Salon and College of the year awards. (2 awards)  Special awards for group salons, and individual salons and Schools.
5.  The salons, Group Salons and Collages of the year trophy will be awarded to the salons with the highest accumulated points for 1st, 2nd, and 3^rd and runners up in all sections.
6. PLEASE NOTE: You must tick single salon or group salon and Collage on your entry form. This means if your salon has more than one salon of the same named group, you tick the group salon entry box.
7. All models will be standing, for the Judges entry to the judging area. And stand until asked to sit by the chairperson of the section being judged
8.  All models will be paraded after judging.
9.  In all pre-done sections, multiple entries will be allowed.
10.  In all pre-done sections it is understood that all work presented was carried out by the competitor named on the entry form.  Entry may be disqualified or award forfeited if not.
11.  IHS reserves the right to remove any competitor from the Stage/floor who indulges in unsafe workplace or safety practices.
12.  No late arrival models will be included in the judging once point judging has commenced.
13.  First second and third place trophies will be awarded in all sections where numbers allow.
14. PLEASE NOTE: If you intend to use your model in more than one competition, or you yourself are a model in another competition, please allow sufficient time for judging of same, as competitions will not be delayed if you or your model is not in attendance at starting time of competition.
15. The International Hairstylists Society shall not be responsible or liable for models or for any damage arising out of work performed on models hair.
16.  No mobile phones will be allowed on the competition floor.
17.  All models to be first judged standing and forward for judging.  All models must be able to then sit, stand and parade without assistance and should not hinder any other person on the judging floor.
18.  Models must not touch their own hair whilst on the competition or judging floor.
19.  Any person disturbing competitors on the floor will be removed from the venue.
20.  The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
21.  On completion of judging, all competitors must allow their models to be photographed by the official IHS photographer.
22.  Any competitor who causes damage to the competition venue, hotel rooms or towels, will be liable for costs.
23.  No competitor or model shall in any competition, display, parade or performance allow his or her genitalia to be exposed or visible to any person at any time.
24.  Refunds on tickets if competition is cancelled.
25.  Exclusive copyright in any competition hair work is the property of the individual hairstylist. Each hairstylist hereby agrees to assign this copyright to the competition promoter.
26.  Any reproduction, including photographic or video recorded, will infringe copyright. The sale of any reproduction without the promoter’s permission is prohibited.
27.  The promoter hereby grants permission to persons only using reproduction for private or educational purposes PROVIDED the reproduction is not sold in any way.
28. The promoter reserves the right to refuse admission to any person(s).
29.  You must state the fact your award was awarded in an I.H.S competition with the year and category of the award stated if you market by any media or advertising the winner of any Salon, College, Senior or Junior Award.

Junior Ladies Cutting

This is a Pre – Done competition 

Open to all trainees (apprentices) & students
Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. Female models must be used.
2. Models must be finished and ready for judging. (No work to be done on the competition floor)
3. Multiple entries are allowed.
4. Colour must be used.
5. No wigs, hairpieces, or extensions allowed.
6. Your model must be finished in a total look form

It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

NOTE:  This model is also eligible to re-enter in your choice of the colour selections.

(You must re-enter the sections to qualify)

Senior Ladies cutting

This is a Pre – Done competition 

Open to all qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. Female model must be used.
2. Models must be finished and ready for judging. (No work to be done on the competition floor)
3. Multiple entries are allowed
4. Colour must be used.
5. No wigs, hairpieces, or extensions allowed.
6. Your model must be finished in a total look form

It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

NOTE:  This model is also eligible to re-enter in your choice of the colour selections.

Open Bridal Total Look

This is a Pre – Done competition 

THIS COMPETITION IS YOUR INTERPRETATION OF A 2012 BRIDAL LOOK.

Open to all apprentices and trainees or students and qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. One female model must be used.
2. Can be entered as a salon entry
3. Models to be finished and ready for judging. (No work to be done on the competition floor)
4. Multiple entries are allowed
5. Your model must be finished in a total look form
6. Your model will have centre stage and catwalk to present your Total look to judges and audience

It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

NOTE: Veils may be used; however, emphasis will be placed on visible hair work. No fantasy brides allowed.

Junior Men’s Cutting

This is a Pre – Done competition 

Open to all trainees, apprentices & students

4. Multiple entries are allowed
5. Your model must be finished in a total look form
6. Your model will have centre stage and catwalk to present your Total look to judges and audience

It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

Open to all qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers

1. Female models must be used.

4. All models will have centre stage and catwalk to present your Total look to judges and audience

It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

 A NEW COMPITITION

JUNIOR WAY OUT COLOUR

This is a Pre – Done competition 

Open to trainees, apprentices & students  

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. Judges are asking the competitor to take full control of their creative imagination and give us their WAY-OUT Avant-garde Colour Creation.
2. Strong vibrant Colours must be used. All types of colour coloured hair pieces can be used
3. Models must be finished and ready for judging. (No work to be done on the competition floor)
4. Multiple entries are allowed
5. Your model must be finished in a total look form

It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

NOTE: This is not a formal total look.

JUNIOR Free Expression

This is a Pre – Done competition 

Open to 1st & 2nd year trainees, apprentices & students up to 1000 hours.  

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. Colour must be used.
2. Models must be finished and ready for judging. (No work to be done on the competition floor)
3. Multiple entries are allowed
4. Your model must be finished in a total look form

It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

NOTE: This is not a formal total look.

Open men’s High Fashion Colour

This is a Pre – Done competition 

Open to all apprentices and trainees or students and qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. Male model must be used.
2. Models must be finished and ready for judging. (No work to be done on the competition floor)
3. Multiple entries are allowed
4. Your model must be finished in a total look form

It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

NOTE: This competition is the top end of the fashion market. Combine colour with new fashion haircuts.

NO MANNIKIN HEADS, WIGS, OR COLOURED STYLING PRODUCTS ALLOWED.

A NEW COMPETITION

OPEN LADIES BLONDE DOMINANT High Fashion Colour

This is a Pre – Done competition  

Open to all apprentices and trainees or students and qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. Female model must be used.
2. Judges are looking for a Colour that is Blonde Dominant with shading variables
3. Models must be finished and ready for judging. (No work to be done on the competition floor)
4. Multiple entries are allowed.
5. Your model must be in a finished total look form

It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

NO MANNIKIN HEADS, WIGS, HAIRPEICE, EXTENSIONS OR COLOURED STYLING PRODUCTS.   

NOTE: This competition is the top end of the fashion market. Combine colour with new fashion haircuts.

Open Men’s Catwalk

This is a Pre – Done competition 

Open to all apprentices and trainees or students and qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. Colour must be used for today’s look.
2. Models must be finished and ready for judging. (No work to be done on the competition floor)
3. Multiple entries are allowed.
4. All models will have centre stage and catwalk to parade and present your, Total look to judges and audience
5. All models will be paraded for Judging
6. It is preferred that your model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.
7. Your model must be finished in a total look form
8. Your model will have centre stage and catwalk to present your Total look to judges and audience

PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION

Photos to be handed in for judging at 7.00 pm.

Judges encourage an image that will sit on the cover of any fashion magazine that compliments and portrays quality and creative Hairdressing.

1. This is a pre-done photographic competition. It is understood that all work shown in the prints will have been completed by the entrant named.
2. Multiple entries accepted.
3. One photo only per entry and each entry incurs an entry fee.
4. Male or female model may be used.
5. The photo may consist of one or more models in the shot.
6. One A4 size or 8 x 10 inch photo must be submitted with each entry.
7. All photographs to be clearly marked on the back with your nameand event number.

Winners will receive free entry into the 2012 Face of IHS Competition.

OPEN EXTENSION FORECAST Total Image

Open to all apprentices and trainees or students and qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers.

Using any hair extension system, create your interpretation for 2012. Using natural or fibre like hair, clips, bonds, hair pieces, wefts and wigs (no full wigs) to create the look.

1. Clothing and make-up must compliment the Total image look.
2. No electrical props.
3. Judges will be looking for the most artistically creative hairstyle that uses the model’s own hair with hair pieces and extensions.
4. No full wigs are allowed.
5. It is preferred that the model remains in attendance until all winners are announced.

OPEN HIGH FASHION TEAM COLLECTION [A Salon Event]

This is a Pre – Done competition 

This competition should project your high fashion work in a total image for the audience, camera and magazines.

Presentation of your team’s collection of models will be to the Judges on the catwalk.

Maximum presentation time 60 seconds

Open to all apprentices and trainees or students and qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. All 3 models to be finished and ready for judging (no work to be done on the competition floor).
2. This section can be entered as a salon entry
3. Competitors must present A collection of any THREE models
4. Your collection must be named and all 3 models should transform the image to the name of your collection.
5. Clothing and make-up to complement your collection.
6. Hair, clothing, make-up and accessories will be judged for the total fashion look of your entire  collection.
7. Colour must be used on all models of your collection.
8. No support props allowed.
9. Your models must be finished in a total look form
10. Your models will have centre stage and catwalk to present to the judges and audience

NOTE: Awards for this competition will be awarded before any models leave the stage

Models may not necessarily have been used in prior Competitions;  You may choose to enter your collection with fresh models

A NEW COMPETITION

OPEN TEAM FANTASY ALL IN ON STAGE

Judges will be looking for Imagination and Creativity in a Free Expressive Fantasy Hairstyle and Total Image Can be entered under a salon name.

Open to all apprentices and trainees or students and qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. Time allowed 8 minutes.
2. Up to five stylists can work on model at one time.
3. Open to all apprentices and trainees or students and qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers
4. Anything may be used to create your look but your model must be able to stand and parade or dance to present to the judges, in a safe manner.
5. A CD with the music for presentation must be handed in at registration
6. You must name your hairstyle creation.
7. No support props
8. No Mirror or Power supplied only a chair provided.
9. Your model must be finished in a total look form

Your model will have centre stage to present your look to judges and audi­ence with a maximum of 60 seconds of music of your choice.

A NEW COMPETITION

SALON TEAM COUTURE CATWALK ALL IN ON STAGE

Judges will be looking for imagination and creativity in a Free Expressive Couture Catwalk Hairstyle and Total image.

Open to all apprentices and trainees or students and qualified and Cert 3 completed Hairdressers

Competitors must read and abide by the conditions of entry.

1. Time allowed 8 minutes.
2. Can be entered as under a salon name
3. Up to five stylists can work on a female model at one time
4. Anything may be used (including pre-done hair pieces) to create your Total look but your model must be able to stand and parade to present your creation to the Judges in a safe manner.
5. Your model will have centre stage and catwalk to present your Total look to judges and audience
6. Music will be supplied
7. You must name your hairstyle Catwalk creation.
8. No support props

No mirror or power supplied only a chair on stage will be provided.
